Tourism in Dieppe and its region
The town of Dieppe will surprise you. Our seaside town, the first accessible from Paris, is full of energy, history, and culture.
Dieppe is the first town with a beach accessible from the French capital, which allowed it to develop its tourism in the past.
Dieppe International Kite Festival
Held every two years in mid-September, the Dieppe International Kite Festival has attracted nearly half a million spectators in recent years who flock to the beaches and lawns facing the castle. A unique show to experience at least once. The vibrant colors, sometimes whimsical shapes, of these flying objects in the sky are something that cannot be described but must be fully experienced. For a full week, around forty nations take part in this largest global gathering of its kind. Next event: September 2026.
The Vegetable Garden of Miromesnil Castle
Located in Tourville-sur-Arques, just 13 kilometers from your Brit Hotel Dieppe, the Miromesnil Castle and its vegetable garden is a must-see during your visit to Dieppe. Listed as a historical monument since 1945, the castle was completed in 1600 and is the birthplace of writer Guy de Maupassant.
Miromesnil is also famous for its vegetable garden, protected by the "Remarkable Garden" label. The garden combines French and English horticultural knowledge and has been cultivated this way since the late 1940s.
The Herring and Scallop Fair
Every 3rd weekend of November, Dieppe celebrates its strong connection with the sea and fishing professions by holding the Herring and Scallop Fair. These two local "stars" are celebrated during this event: the herring, whose fishing helped prevent famines in the Middle Ages, and the scallop, known here as "white gold", for which the port of Dieppe has an excellent reputation. It’s a great opportunity for thousands of visitors, tourists or locals, to enjoy a festive and warm moment as winter approaches.
Dieppe Castle, now a Museum
Overlooking the English Channel, the Dieppe Castle Museum stands 30 meters above sea level, since its construction in the late 12th century. Originally built to defend the town, the castle expanded in the 17th century to accommodate residents and serve as a barracks. It became a prison during the French Revolution, and during both world wars, it returned to its military role. In the 1920s, it was converted into a museum. Visit for the panorama, the history, and the collections it houses: an absolute must-see in Dieppe.
We also recommend visiting the Abbey of the Dukes of Normandy in Fécamp.
